Disassembly Guide for IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad X100e Laptop: Access HDD, RAM and SIM Card

A short guide illustrating how to take apart the IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad X100e laptop. To get access to the RAM, the SIM card slot and the HDD.

Step-by-Step Disassembly Pictures

  The laptop before the operation, a front view.

  A view from the backside. There are seven screws holding the cover. Note: each screw is secured with a little spring therefore it will not come out fully. Just leave each screw in its hole, there is no need to remove the screws completely.

  The seven screws of the backcover are secured with little ring-like springs. Here is a detailed view of one screw and the spring attached to it.

  The laptop from the backside with the cover removed. You can identify the main field replacable parts (or upgradable components): memory, hard disk drive; as well as the SIM card slot. Note: the HDD is not even secured by screws, just push it to the right to get is out of the SATA slot.

  The SIM card slot in detailed view. You may use a screwdriver like shown to push the lid of the SIM card slot to open or lock it.
